Why does Gomez need PEERs?

What exactly is the "PEER"?
The Gomez PEER is a secure, Java-based application that runs in the background of your PC. You may even forget it's there, because it will not disrupt the way you use your computer.
Using advanced, peer-to-peer distributed computing technology, the Gomez PEER combines the spare capacity of PCs around the world to measure the performance of Web sites. After you install the Gomez PEER, it will periodically communicate with Gomez servers via the Internet, signal that it's available for work, and request a work unit. And you will be credited for your online time and work processed approximately every 15 minutes that the application is running.
Based on your computer's characteristics (Internet connection type, geographic location and Internet service provider), your PC will receive instructions to autonomously test the performance of Web sites — gathering important metrics that help identify network bottlenecks and performance problems. All of this happens "behind the scenes," even when you're away from your PC or asleep. Finally, your PC will send its results back to Gomez, where they are added to the work of thousands of other PCs around the world.
The Gomez PEER is available for Windows 2000/NT/XP/2003.

Прикол в том, что они платят деньги. 45 уе максимум в месяц.
Выводить можно на ПейПал, АлиПей и МаниБукерс.

они правда не платят напрямую, а биржи у нас нет, но всё-таки...

ReMMeR, я тоже так подумал. но у гомеза партнёрі акамай и левел 3 - я представляю как они акамай ддосят ))))) тут всего боинка вместе взятого не хватит )))))))))))

Вставлю свои 5 копеек:
Лично я явно коммерческими проектами в составе команды заниматься не буду, неважно что они делают, для кого и как. И я также против участия команды в коммерческих проектах, стоит один раз стать на этот путь, и мы рискуем из команды добровольцев превратиться в коммерческое объединение. Я думаю все видели множество примеров, когда изначально некоммерческие начинания превращались в банальную погоню за деньгами (последний пример - Одноклассники).
Я не против коммерческих РВ-сетей в принципе (сам участвую в одной из них), но на мой взгляд это не должно иметь отношения к команде. Если кто-то желает, всегда можно участвовать в частном порядке.

По-моему, в скором времени будет все больше и больше проектов РВ на коммерческой основе. Тут даже где-то на нашем сайте, если не ошибаюсь, статья про это была неплохая. А это только первые ласточки. И не стоит к этому так негативно относиться (хотя я и сам не в восторге от такого). Если эти деньги пойдут на хостинг и премии для конкурсов, то почему бы и не выделить на это некоторые ресурсы

Не разглядел сначала - там еще в конце 1го поста реклама. У меня стойкая позиция, что если людей привлекают зароботком, то не все так просто 
(ни с тем, кто привлекает, ни с тем, чем придется заниматься)

что значит реклама? - я не виноват что они сделали себе банер.
в начале поста написана ссылка текстом. в конце вставил их банер.
ссылка реферальная. там при регистрации указываешь кто тебе посоветовал проект. за каждого реферала дают доллар.
если кого-то это смущает - можете в том поле, где написано DeadJDona стереть моё имя.

О коммерческом проекте РВ, в котором я участвую, я уже писал здесь: http://distributed.org.ua/forum/index.php?showtopic=1032
Повторюсь, что там можно более-менее нормально зарабатывать, только имея неплохую технику (не менее 4 ядер, но главное - оперативки от 8Гб), неплохой канал на отдачу в инет, а также лицензионную ось и софт.

В связи с тем что это только подобие проекта РВ его у нас в БТП небудет, а на форуме эта тема живет не в разделе проектов, а тут, в разделе "интернет". (!)

мне активировали акк! теперь деньги переносятся на следующий месяц. примерно пятёрка выходит за месяц. как раз за хостенг заплатить ))

Если не ДДОС, то накрутка посещаемости.
Берем жменю банерных сетей. ТЫкаем банеры к себе на титул, все сразу. Объявляем платный РВ проект. И тупо всех ботов отрпавляем ходить по банерам с нашего титула. Только откат с баннеров делим на несколько порядков, перед тем, как отдавать "кранчерам".
Можно даже статистику сделать и рассказывать, что мы занимается исследованием скорости отклика серверов наших партнеров...

Пробовал участвовать на протяжении полугода. Своеобразный аналог маджестика. Для получения денег нужно стать валидированым пользователем. НО граждане из СНГ крайне редко получают валидированый аккаунт. То есть твоя нода получает задания, ты их выполняешь, начисляют кредиты, но ты не получаешь их. Раз в месяц они обнуляются. Прокси банятся.
