Если Вы желаете помочь ученым в понимании такой сложной, многогранной и беспощадной болезни как Рак — присоединяйтесь к проекту распределенных вычислений "Help Conquer Cancer" (Помоги Победить Рак) основанный учеными из "Ontario Cancer Institute (OCI)" (Институт Рака в Онтарио), "Princess Margaret Hospital" (Госпиталь Принцессы Маргарет» и "University Health Network" (Университетская Сеть Здоровья).
Смысл помощи в том, чтобы предоставить ученым неиспользованное процессорное время вашего ПК для анализа фотографий белков сделанных методом "X-ray Crystallography" (Рентген кристаллография) с целью определения структуры этих белков и в дальнейшем понимания их роли в инициировании, течении и лечении Рака.

Миссия
Миссия проекта ПОМОГИ ПОБЕДИТЬ РАК состоит в том, чтобы улучшить результаты рентгеновской кристаллографии, которая помогает исследователям не только описать неизвестные структуры протеономы человека, но и большим образом понять как образуется рак, как он развивается, и как на него можно повлиять.

Важность проекта
Для того чтобы существенным образом повлиять на понимание рака и на его лечение, нужно не только открыть новые терапевтические подходы нацеленные на исследование метастаз (процесс распространения рака на другие органы тела), но и найти некие маркеры или структурные метки, с помощью которых можно было бы провести раннюю диагностику

Во время изучения многих форм рака, исследователи смогли сделать некоторые открытия даже имея ограниченное представление об участвующих в образовании рака белках. Однако, чтобы глубже понять и найти более эффективные способы лечения, необходимо исследовать все вовлеченные в процесс белки, их структуру и функции, чем и занимается данный проект. В основном это белки, характерные для раковых клеток, а также белки которые в них подавляются. Также исследуются белки которые были модифицированы и изменили свою структуру под воздействием рака.

С помощью рентгеновской кристаллографии исследователи смогут получить более точные данные о структуре этих белков. Это должно привести к более глубокому пониманию функций ракообразующих белков, и позволит найти потенциальные лекарства от смертельной болезни.

С начала проекта обрабатывалось 85 млн изображений.
По данным на 30 июня 2010, в данной фазе проекта обрабатывается более 115 млн изображений, каждое из них - на 2 разных компьютерах. Итого в проекте - 230 млн заданий.
По уточненным данным на 20 октября 2010, в данной фазе проекта обрабатывается более 105 млн изображений, каждое из них - на 2 разных компьютерах. Итого в проекте - 210 млн заданий.

Более 560 (на 1 января 2011) человек из украинской команды распределенных вычислений отдают свободные мощности своих компьютеров на эти исследования.

Help Conquer Cancer project announcement:

World Community Grid takes great pleasure in announcing its newest research project: Help Conquer Cancer, sponsored by the Ontario Cancer Institute in Canada. The mission of Help Conquer Cancer is to improve the results of protein X-ray crystallography, which helps researchers not only annotate parts of the human proteome, but importantly improves their understanding of cancer initiation, progression, and treatment. Help Conquer Cancer runs only on the BOINC client. For more information about BOINC see the last article in this newsletter.

Time to Go BOINC!

In the October 2007 newsletter, World Community Grid announced that it was migrating entirely to BOINC (Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing), a software platform for volunteer computing and desktop grid computing. The move is being made to provide a better experience for all our members.

This is a reminder to all users of the United Devices client that you must migrate to the BOINC client before it sunsets in 2008 by visiting the website and downloading and installing the BOINC client. The BOINC installer will detect if a computer is running the UD client and if it is found, will help you uninstall it. Details on downloading and installing the BOINC agent for Windows may be found here.

To determine whether you are currently on the BOINC or UD client, double click on the World Community Grid icon in your system tray. If you are running the BOINC client, you will see "BOINC Client" at the top of the information panel. If you are running the United Devices client it will say United Devices in the lower right hand corner.

Are you active?

As we start this new project, the World Community Grid team wants to make sure that everyone who has signed up is actively contributing. To check out if you are actively contributing, sign in on the website and go to My Grid. In the middle of that page you will see a field for "Last Results Returned". If the last time you returned a result was more than 30 days ago, you are probably not active. The easiest way to become active again is to check that the software is installed and running properly.

To see if the software is installed, check for the World Community Grid logo in your system tray. Here is an example of what the logo looks like in the system tray:

Double-clicking on the logo will bring up the client. If the client does not appear to be running correctly (i.e., the numbers for Task Run Time or Elapsed Time are not increasing, examples below), please use the Contact Us feature on the bottom of most pages of the World Community Grid website, and a World Community Grid team member will help you to figure out how to become active again.

If the World Community Grid logo is not in your system tray, you will need to install the software. For instructions, click here. If you have any questions about this, please ask in the forums or send an email via Contact Us.

При добавлении проекта юзер, емейл и пароль были нормально приняты?

Зайди плиз в настройки фаервола и на влякий случай проверь не добавлен ли клиент в блеклист

Скопируй сюда все со вкладки messages. Разберемся

Да, все приняло нормально...кстати орбит хоум тоже не принимает. В файерволе поставил в исключения. Сылка эта не работает, пишет что не найдена на этом сервере.
