BeWeS MouseTracker tracked the distance traveled by a participant's computer mouse, and the number of times the participant clicked it, and periodically reported that information to the project server. Participants could compete against other project members and teams, and a participant could win a prize if he or she was the first person to reach a distance goal. The project was just for fun. The project's distance goal was "around the world."
