Test4Theory - проект распределенных вычислений, в котором используется разработанная в ЦЕРН виртуальная машина CernVM под управлением приложения BOINC, чтобы привлекать вычислительные мощности волонтеров для полноценного моделирования физики частиц высоких энергий.

Test4Theory запущен в 2011 г. и использует одно из первых физических приложений, работающих на платформе LHC@home, с использованием технологии виртуальных машин. Поэтому проект Test4Theory также обозначают как Virtual LHC@home или сокращенно - vLHCathome. Результаты виртуального моделирования, проводимого посредством Test4Theory, пополняют базу данных моделирования MCPlots, чтобы физики из ЦЕРНа уточняли свои теоретические модели, которые затем проверяются во время экспериментов на Большом адронном коллайдере.

An article entitled Virtual atom smasher in LHC@Home 2.0 appeared recently in International Science Grid This Week (iSGTW).

“I think we can get 10,000 or maybe more [people participating in Test4Theory]. This would make a real difference to the resources available to theoretical physicists,” said Peter Skands, the theoretical physicist who, together with the developers of LHC@home 2.0, came up with the idea for Test4Theory about a year ago.

We've recovered from the initial tsunami of volunteer support last month – thanks, everyone, for your enthusiasm and patience! So now Test4Theory is opening gradually to new volunteers using invitation codes. If you want to test the project, please, sign up for an invite! If the number of requests remains very high, we won't be able to accommodate everyone, so we'll be picking users randomly each week and sending them invitation codes for an invitation lottery. Thus, if you want to try the project and help debugging it sign up and good luck!

Dear all, We are very happy to show you the first working version of the graphics application that will show the progress of the simulations in the virtual machine. In this Youtube video the graphics application shows live histograms from the running experiments within the virtual machine, so you can see the actual progress of the simulated events and how they look like. We hope to have a stable version soon, so stay tuned!! The team.

CernVM Wrapper 7.0 is out!!

Dear all, We are very happy to announce that a new version of the wrapper has been released!! The new version has several major improvements:
* Windows Registry access has been improved.
* Graceful error handling: several tries before canceling WU.
* CernVM Graphics application support. The graphics application has to be tested a bit more before releasing it.

In order to get the new version you can wait until your running WU finishes or you cancel it and get the new one if you do not mind the credits. Please, as usual, let us know any problems with this new version in the forums.
